WORLD'S worst BEST BOYFRIEND

My first book for the year. My first regret of the year.

So, there's a lot I have heard about Durjoy Datta from my peers. I have been told to read his books. I have seen his books on the "Best Selling" shelves in various book stores. But, this book didn't live up to my expectations. This is the first book I am reading of his and I am not sure if I picked up the right one to judge him as an author.
The title will make you believe that it's a nice young-adult novel, a typical one meant for teenagers. Upon seeing the title, I thought that the book might have an interesting twist to it. It's said that "Don't judge the books by it's cover" and I have learnt that lesson today. I am glad I spent only on the library fee to borrow this book and didn't buy the book instead.

The book on the whole is an okay read, nothing too great about it; in fact, nothing good about it. It's  a clichéd novel with an extreme lack of suspense, so much so that, I pretty much guessed how the story would turn out. I personally believe, from what I have learnt about story telling is that a good story knows how to create a suspense in the minds of the readers and strike back at the right moments and, to my disappointment, this is the one major thing this book lacked. I wish Durjoy could have worked a little more on the plot to make it interesting. That would have easily removed the cliché aspect of the story.

Besides cliché, I believe that the author could have worked better on the story on the whole for the reader can easily point out to mistakes like one can in movies. They are minute things, I believe, which make the book a good one. These kinds of mistakes, as common as they are in movies, aren't in books. It was disheartening to read it with such errors.

The language on the whole seemed fine except few spelling errors here and there. The book on the whole isn't a must-read types. If you are really jobless and done with your to-read list, you may go ahead and read it. But, let me warn you, please keep your brain aside before you start to have an amazing experience whilst reading the book.

Cheers!
Happy New Year!
